Supporting Women Scholarships

The Supporting Women Scholarships are opening up new opportunities for Queensland women of all ages and at all stages of their working life.

What are the Supporting Women Scholarships?

The Supporting Women Scholarships provide women with financial support to take up opportunities in male dominated fields of study and employment.

The program is a four year Queensland Government initiative, administered by the Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE), that opens doors for women to undertake study, and ultimately employment, in a number of nominated fields.

Scholarships are valued at $5,000 per annum (full-time study) for the length of the qualification, and worth up to a maximum of $20,000.

The Queensland Government offers Supporting Women Scholarships once per year and applications are now open for scholarships commencing at the beginning of the 2015 academic year.

What fields of study and level are the scholarships available for?

Scholarships are available from certificate IV to postgraduate level for study in:

  • Agriculture and Environmental Studies
  • Architecture and Building
  • Earth Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Information technology
